A wonderful Sunday in Ashburton

Today was a great day with 3 baptisms in our branch! The Sister missionaries, Sister Fetu'u, and Sister Holladay have done a wonderful job!! Steven and two sisters, Metiria Aroha Maaka-, and Manaia Ruihi Rewi Maaka, were all baptized Sunday morning. We met at the church for opening song, prayer, talks, and song, then went to the city pool for the baptism, and then back for closing remarks by President Pongia, song, and prayer. Then Sacrament meeting started and they were confirmed. Elder Neider gave a talk and confirmed Steven. Steven was ask to bear his testimony, and did a good job. He told about his life, which is so interesting, and said that he was happy to have found the gospel and the church. He was so happy today with his baptism, and felt very loved. The little sisters were very sweet, and felt loved and very pretty in their white dresses, that they borrowed from Sister Pongia, and their inactive parents and family came. We were the transportation for Steven, and it made me think of my brother, Roger, when we were loading Steven and the wheelchair, in and out of the car, numerous times. The lift did not work at the pool, and it was quite a production to get Steven in and out of the pool, but it all was accomplished. There were about 50 branch members at the baptisms! Roween, who is a deaf lady in our branch is a good friend of the girls and their family. The girls stayed with her on Saturday night and she got them ready on Sunday morning. There was a great spirit in Ashburton today!
