Fun times with family

We have had such a fun time with Camille, Nancy and the boys. A fewwere: going to church and making new friends, playing at the Domain, playing in the ocean, visiting a pig and sheep farm, riding on the gondola and the luge at Queenstown, and fishing in the ocean and catching sharks! We packed alot of fun into a few days!

We had a great Maori experience where we

saw how their ancestors lived and learned about their culture. Grandpa got chosen to be the chief of the "visitors", and the boys got to learn to do the haka!

We also got to visit our friend Maurice's sheep and pig farm and hold new born piglets!

Shark fishing in the ocean

Our friend Rommel and his two sons, took us fishing in the ocean and each of us caught a shark! His wife had packed a picnic for us too! It was a fun "last day" in NZ for the boys! Thank you, Rommel!

Great friends

Jack and Margaret are the cutest couple. We love to go visit them. They are both so sharp, and they drive back and forth to Omeru, where they have another home. They are so interesting! They are avid newspaper readers, and they cut out all the articles about Mitt Romney for us!
We just love them!

I was going to title this the "Three Stooges", but decided I'd better not! These are two great friends of ours, Jack and Derek. The both make us laugh alot! Posing for a picture was a real trial for them! After I snapped the first picture, they thought that was more than enough! They were both born in the same house, 5 months apart, and are 83 yrs old. The old guy in the middle is mine!

Mata

Our friend Mata, was ready to send her missionary papers in, and needed to have a picture to send with them, so we went to the Domain, and took "heaps" of pictures. We had so much fun! The flowers were beautiful and so is Mata! She will be a wonderful missionary! We are excited for her.

4 Baptisms

Today, Feb 11, 2011 we had 4 baptisms! It was a wonderful day! First we had the program at the church and the chapel was full of family and ward members, and friends! Then we went to a pool, nearby, and had the baptisms, then went back to the chapel for 2 of the confirmations (the other 2 will be on Sunday). Afterward, we went to a hall, and had a wonderful luncheon, (heaps of food, complete with a roast pig!) put on by the Branch Presidency! Nearly the entire Branch was there to support these 4 young people and their families!
It was a beautiful day!

An unveiling

Sister Johnston and her family, had an unveiling of the headstone on her husbands grave, one year after he passed away. They had a little program, President Pongia gave a nice talk, and so did Sister Johnston's son Kent, who was recently made a bishop in Christchurch. We sang three hymns, and then had a lovely luncheon ("tea"). President Johnston had been the branch president for 9 years in Ashburton, when he died suddenly of a heart attack. Everyone loves him and his wife and family. They are wonderful! His mother was able to attend, and also many other family and dear friends.

It was really a beautiful and loving day.
